§ 13853 Annexation Ballot Proposition

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about how ballots should look for a vote on annexation (joining one area to another).
  • •The ballot must include clear instructions, like regular election ballots.
  • •The ballot must ask a simple yes/no question about joining a municipal utility district.
  • •The question must mention the agreement details, like the date and where to find it.

Example

A small town wants to join a bigger city’s water and electricity system.

The ballot will ask: 'Should our town join the Big City’s utility system? Yes or No.' It will also tell voters where to find the full agreement details.
