§ 13851 Annexation Election Procedure

Key Takeaways

  • •After the board approves an annexation agreement, the area that wants to join must hold a vote.
  • •The vote decides if the area will officially become part of the district based on the agreed terms.
  • •This law makes sure the people in the area get to say yes or no to joining.

Example

A small town wants to join a bigger city to get better services like trash pickup and schools.

The town holds a vote where everyone can say yes or no to joining the city. If most people vote yes, the town becomes part of the city.
