§ 29540 County Annexation Election Process

Key Takeaways

  • •After the district's board approves an annexation agreement, the county's board must hold a vote.
  • •The vote is to decide if the county will join the district based on the agreed terms.
  • •This law was added in 1957.

Example

Imagine a small town wants to join a bigger city to get better services like trash pickup or schools.

The big city's leaders agree to let the town join, but the town must hold a vote so all the people can decide if they want to join under the agreed terms.
