§ 12166 Employee Discipline Appeals Process

Key Takeaways

  • •A group (committee) looks at a work problem and decides what to do, like firing, suspending, or giving the job back to the worker.
  • •The worker has 10 days to ask the boss (general manager) to look at the decision again.
  • •The boss can ask for more info before making the final call.
  • •After the boss decides, that’s the end—no more arguing.

Example

A worker gets fired for being late too much. The committee says, 'You’re fired.'

The worker has 10 days to tell the boss, 'Please check this again.' The boss can ask for more details, like why they were late, then decides if the firing stays or not. After the boss decides, it’s over.
