§ 37644 Continuous School Program Grants

Key Takeaways

  • •Big school districts (more than 500 students) that switched to a year-round school schedule before July 1, 1979, could get a one-time $25,000 grant.
  • •Small school districts (500 or fewer students) that did the same thing could get a one-time $5,000 grant.
  • •The school had to get approval from the Superintendent of Public Instruction to receive the money.
  • •Schools already using a year-round schedule when this law started also qualified for the grant.

Example

A school district with 600 students decided to switch to a year-round schedule in 1978. They applied and got approval from the Superintendent.

Because they had more than 500 students and made the change before July 1, 1979, they received a one-time grant of $25,000 to help with the transition.
