§ 300 Artesian Well Definition

Key Takeaways

  • •An artesian well is a man-made hole in the ground.
  • •Water flows up from underground to the surface by itself.
  • •It doesn’t matter how long the water flows—it’s still an artesian well.

Example

A farmer digs a hole in their field, and water starts coming out on its own without a pump.

This hole is an artesian well because it’s man-made and water flows up from underground by itself.
