§ 30220 Board Director Term Assignment

Key Takeaways

  • •Some board members get picked randomly to serve for 1, 2, 3, or 4 years at first.
  • •After that first random pick, all those board members serve for 4 years.
  • •This rule is only for board members who are not part of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors or the Los Angeles City Council.

Example

Imagine a new group is formed to help improve parks in Los Angeles.

The first time they meet, they pick some people randomly to serve for different amounts of time, like 1, 2, 3, or 4 years. After that, everyone serves for 4 years. This way, not everyone is new at the same time, and some people stay longer to help guide the group.
