§ 105020 District Board Appointment Rules

This law sets up a 12‑person board to run the district and spells out exactly who gets each of the 12 seats.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board has 12 members total.
  • •Two seats go to Sonoma County supervisors, two to Marin County supervisors, and the rest are filled by city mayors or council members and agency representatives.
  • •City members must come from cities on the Sonoma rail line, no city can have more than one, and at least two must also be on the Sonoma County Transportation Authority.
  • •Two members come from the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District and cannot be county supervisors.

Example

A city council member from Novato who also serves on the Marin County Congestion Management Agency is chosen for the board.

Because the law says the Novato council member who is on that agency must be appointed, that person becomes one of the board members.
