§ 12771 District Property Acquisition Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •A district can get land or stuff (like buildings or equipment) in different ways, like buying it, getting it as a gift, or even taking it if they really need it for important work.
  • •The district can also sell, rent, or borrow money using that land or stuff if they think it’s good for the district.
  • •This rule applies to all deals the district has made in the past or will make in the future.

Example

A school district needs a new building for more classrooms.

The district can buy an empty lot nearby to build the school. Later, if they don’t need the lot anymore, they can sell it or rent it out to make money for other school stuff.
