§ 111870 Embargoed Product Release Process

Key Takeaways

  • •If a food, drug, or cosmetic is held by the government because they thought it was bad, but it turns out to be fine, they have to remove the 'do not sell' tag.
  • •The government can only take the tag off if the product is not fake, dangerous, or breaking any rules.
  • •This rule makes sure good products aren’t stuck with a bad label by mistake.

Example

A store sells a new kind of juice, and the government puts a 'do not sell' tag on it because they think it might be unsafe.

If the government checks the juice and finds out it’s actually safe and follows all the rules, they have to take the tag off so the store can sell it again.
