§ 51941 Special District Dissolution Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •When a city and county combine, some special districts (like water or fire departments) might disappear.
  • •The new city-county government takes over the jobs of these special districts.
  • •Some rules (Sections 51942-51945) explain how this merger works.

Example

A small town's fire department gets merged into the bigger city-county fire department.

The town's fire department stops existing on its own, and the city-county now handles all fire services for that area.
