§ 51940 Sacramento City-County Merger

Key Takeaways

  • •When cities and the county merge, the old city and county rules are gone.
  • •The new City-County of Sacramento has its own rules, like a big city and county combined.
  • •If the city rules and county rules don't agree, the city rules win.

Example

Imagine two small towns and a county decide to become one big city-county.

The old rules of the towns and the county don't count anymore. The new big city-county makes its own rules. If the new city rule says 'no dogs in parks' but the old county rule said 'dogs are okay,' the city rule wins.
