§ 27324 Document Title Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Every paper you want to record must have a clear title showing what it is.
  • •The title must be on the first page, right below the space for the recorder.
  • •The recorder only has to write down the title on the first page, but they can choose to add more if they want.

Example

You want to record a deed for your house.

You must write 'Deed' at the top of the first page. The recorder will use that title to file it. If you don’t put a title, they might not record it right.
