§ 27325 Document Indexing Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a paper or document is given to be recorded but doesn't have a title or instructions on how to file it, the person in charge gets to decide how to file it.
  • •The law helps make sure documents are stored in a way that makes sense, even if the person who gave them didn’t say how.
  • •This rule was updated in 1967 to make things clearer.

Example

You give a signed paper about selling your bike to the town office, but you forget to write what the paper is called or how they should file it.

The office worker will look at the paper and decide where to put it so people can find it later.
