§ 11159 Successor Department Legal References

Key Takeaways

  • •If a government department takes over the job of another agency, the old agency's name in laws gets updated to the new department's name.
  • •This change happens automatically, even in laws made later.
  • •It’s like when your teacher changes your name on the attendance sheet—everything now uses the new name.

Example

Imagine the 'Department of Roads' takes over the job of the 'Old Highway Team'.

Any law that used to say 'Old Highway Team' now means 'Department of Roads' instead, even if the law was written before the change.
