§ 10293 Electronic Legal Material Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a publisher only puts out laws online, they must mark it as official and follow certain rules.
  • •If a publisher puts out laws both online and in print, they can choose to make the online version official if they follow the same rules.
  • •The rules they must follow are in Sections 10294, 10296, and 10297.

Example

A government website publishes new traffic laws only online.

The website must clearly say it's the official version of the laws and follow the rules in Sections 10294, 10296, and 10297. If they don't, it might not count as the real law.
