§ 100015 Licensing System Participation Authority

This law lets the commissioner work with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System to collect records, handle fees, change rules, share info, and let people contest data.

Key Takeaways

  • •The commissioner can make deals with the nationwide licensing system to keep records and collect fees.
  • •The commissioner can waive or change state rules, or add new ones, to work with that system.
  • •The commissioner can use the system to send or get information to/from the Justice Department or other agencies.
  • •Applicants and license holders must have a way to challenge any data the commissioner puts into the system.

Example

A nurse wants a license in another state and uses the nationwide licensing website to apply.

The commissioner can set up a contract with that website, change some state rules so the nurse can apply online, send the nurse's info to the Justice Department if needed, and give the nurse a way to argue if the website shows wrong information about them.
