§ 7135 Emancipation Declaration Effects

Key Takeaways

  • •If a kid becomes legally independent (emancipated) and then that gets canceled, it doesn’t change any deals or rights they had while they were independent.
  • •Things like contracts, property, or money stuff they did while independent stay the same even if they’re not independent anymore.
  • •This rule is to keep things fair for everyone involved.

Example

A 16-year-old gets emancipated, signs a lease for an apartment, and then later the emancipation is canceled.

The lease they signed is still valid, and they still have to pay rent or follow the rules of the lease, even though they’re not emancipated anymore.
