§ 29583 Honey Color Labeling Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •If a jar of comb honey has a color label, the honey inside must be that color or lighter.
  • •The label can't say the honey is darker than it really is.
  • •This rule is about making sure the label is honest.

Example

You buy a jar of honey labeled 'dark amber'.

The honey inside must be dark amber or lighter (like regular amber). If it's darker than dark amber, the label is wrong.
