§ 17506 New Resident Voter Records

This rule says the elections office must keep the list of new voters for 22 months after an election, but only until Jan 1 2027 unless another law changes that date.

Key Takeaways

  • •The voter list must be saved for 22 months after each election.
  • •The rule only works until Jan 1 2027.
  • •If the state passes another law before that date, the deadline can be moved or the rule can keep going.

Example

Maria moves to a new county, registers, and votes in the November 2024 election.

The elections office will keep Maria’s voter information on file for about 22 months after the November vote, but the whole rule will stop working on Jan 1 2027 unless the state passes a new law to keep it going.
