§ 39831 Schoolbus Safety Regulations

(a) The State Board of Education shall adopt reasonable regulations relating to the use of schoolbuses by school districts and others. The regulations may not govern the safe operation of schoolbuses that shall be adopted instead by the Department of the California Highway Patrol. (b) The Department of the California Highway Patrol shall adopt regulations pursuant to Section 34500 of the Vehicle Code relating to the safe operation of schoolbuses that shall also require school district governing boards to include in their schoolbus driver training programs, the proper actions to be taken in the event that a schoolbus is hijacked. (Added by Stats. 1999, Ch. 646, Sec. 14. Effective January 1, 2000.)
