§ 33053 Annual Waiver Report Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Department of Education must send a report every year to the Governor, Legislature, and State Board of Education.
  • •The report must also be shared with the superintendent and board president of every school district and county office of education.
  • •The report must include details about the number and types of waivers requested, what the board decided about those requests, and where to find more information about waivers.

Example

Imagine your school wants to try a new way of teaching math that doesn’t follow the usual state rules. They ask for a waiver, which is like asking for special permission to do something different.

The State Department of Education keeps track of all these requests and writes a report about them. They send this report to important people in the state and to every school district so everyone knows what’s happening with these special requests.
