§ 33052 Deemed Waiver Approval

• •If the State Board of Education doesn't say 'yes' or 'no' to a waiver request within two meetings, the waiver is automatically approved for one year.
• •The approval starts the first day of the next month after the second meeting.
• •Some rules (like those in Article 5) can't be waived this way—they always need a clear 'yes' from the board.

A school wants to change how they spend money on textbooks.

If the school asks for a waiver and the board doesn’t decide in two meetings, the school can go ahead with their plan for a year. But if the rule is about something like school bus safety (from Article 5), the board must say 'yes' directly—no automatic approval.
