§ 12430 Membership Resignation And Expiration

This law says you can quit a club or group anytime, but you might still have to pay for things you already used or promised to pay. If your membership has a time limit, it ends when the time is up unless you renew it.

Key Takeaways

  • •You can leave a club or group whenever you want, but you might have to give them a heads-up first.
  • •Even if you quit, you still have to pay for stuff you already used or promised to pay for.
  • •If your membership has a time limit, it ends when the time is up unless you renew it.

Example

You join a gym with a one-year membership and pay monthly. After 6 months, you decide to quit.

You can quit the gym, but you might still have to pay for the remaining 6 months if that was part of your contract. If your membership was only for one year, it ends automatically after that year unless you sign up again.
