§ 8210 Lender Notice Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If you get a loan to build or fix up a house after work has started, you must tell everyone working on the project who gave you the loan.
  • •You have to give the name and address of the lender to anyone who sent you a notice before they started working.
  • •This rule helps workers and suppliers know who to talk to if they don’t get paid.

Example

You start building a new house and hire a plumber. Later, you get a loan from a bank to pay for the rest of the work.

You must tell the plumber the name and address of the bank that gave you the loan. This way, if you don’t pay the plumber, they know who to contact.
