§ 8102 Construction Notice Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're working on a building project and need to send a notice, you must include specific details like who owns the property, who hired you, and where the work is happening.
  • •The notice should also say what work you did, who you did it for, and how much money you're owed (if any).
  • •Small mistakes in the notice won’t make it invalid as long as the important info is clear and the other person understands it.

Example

You’re a plumber who fixed pipes in a new house but didn’t get paid. You need to send a notice to the owner to ask for your money.

Your notice must include the owner’s name, the builder who hired you, where the house is, what plumbing work you did, and how much you’re owed. If you forget the street number but describe the house well enough, the notice still counts.
