§ 5263 Suicidal Person Certification Notices

• •If someone is certified as imminently suicidal, a copy of the notice must be given to them and filed with the court.
• •The notice must also be sent to the person's lawyer, the district attorney, the public defender, and the treatment facility.
• •The person can choose someone else to receive a copy of the notice. If they can't choose right away, they can do it later when they're able.

John is certified as imminently suicidal and is being held for intensive treatment.

The hospital must give John a copy of the certification notice and file it with the court. They also send copies to John's lawyer, the district attorney, the public defender, and the treatment facility. John can choose his mom to get a copy too, but if he's too upset to decide now, he can tell them later.
