§ 8816 County Assessor Abbreviations

• •Assessors can use short forms or abbreviations when making lists for taxes.
• •The abbreviations must be commonly used in that county.
• •They don’t have to explain what the abbreviations mean.

If a county usually calls a street 'Main St.' instead of 'Main Street,' the tax list can use 'Main St.' without explaining it.

The law lets them use short names everyone in the area already knows, so they don’t have to write out the full name every time.
