§ 8818 Land Description By Map

Key Takeaways

  • •If a piece of land is described using a map, plat, or survey that is already filed or recorded in a public office, you don't need to describe the land in full detail.
  • •You can just refer to the map, plat, or survey by its name, number, or other identifying information.
  • •This makes it easier to identify the land without having to write out all the details.

Example

You own a piece of land that is shown on a map filed at the county office. The map is called 'Map of Green Valley, Number 5'.

Instead of describing your land by its boundaries and size, you can just say 'Map of Green Valley, Number 5' to identify it.
