§ 75590 Groundwater Zone Establishment

Key Takeaways

  • •The board decides if a special water zone is needed.
  • •They also decide if people in that zone should pay a fee for using groundwater.
  • •This decision happens before the end of the water year (usually September 30).
  • •The decision is based on a hearing where they gather information.

Example

A town is using too much groundwater, and wells are drying up.

The board holds a meeting to listen to farmers, homeowners, and experts. If they decide the problem is serious, they can create a special zone where everyone pays a fee for using groundwater. This fee helps manage and protect the water supply.
