§ 1090 Board Witness Subpoena Power

This law says a court can make people show up and answer questions or bring important papers if they get a special order called a subpoena.

Key Takeaways

  • •A subpoena is like a court order that makes you show up or bring stuff.
  • •If you ignore it, the court can make you do it anyway.
  • •This only happens in the same county where the court case is.

Example

Imagine someone saw a car crash but doesn’t want to talk about it in court.

The court can force that person to come and tell what they saw if they get a subpoena.
