§ 6390 Dam Safety Complaint Inspection

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone writes a complaint saying a dam or reservoir is dangerous to them or their property, the department must check it out.
  • •The department can skip the inspection if they already have enough information to decide if the complaint is valid.
  • •The law makes sure complaints about dangerous dams or reservoirs are taken seriously.

Example

A family living downstream from a dam writes a complaint saying the dam looks weak and might break, flooding their home.

The department must inspect the dam to see if it's really dangerous. If they already have recent reports showing the dam is safe, they might not need to inspect it again.
