§ 22264 District Water Safety Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •Some water safety rules don’t apply to certain areas unless the health department says so in writing.
  • •If an area mostly uses water for farming, the health department can make special rules to keep drinking water safe.
  • •City or public water companies still have to follow the usual water safety rules, even in these areas.

Example

A small town mostly uses water for farming, but people also drink it.

The health department can tell the town what to do to make sure the drinking water is safe, even if the usual rules don’t fully apply.
