§ 183 Board Hearing And Investigation Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •The board can hold hearings and investigations anywhere in the state to do their job.
  • •Any board member can run a hearing or investigation if the board allows it, but big decisions need most of the board to agree in a proper meeting.
  • •All hearings must be open to the public—no secret meetings.

Example

The board wants to check if a company is breaking safety rules in a small town.

The board can go to that town, hold a public meeting, and ask questions. If they find problems, the whole board must vote in an official meeting to decide what to do next.
