§ 164 Commission Hearing Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •The commission can hold hearings and investigate things anywhere in the state to do their job.
  • •They have the same powers as other state department heads when doing this.
  • •Any member of the commission can run a hearing or investigation if the commission allows it.
  • •Big decisions must be made by most of the commission members in a proper meeting.

Example

The commission wants to check if a company is breaking rules in a small town.

They can go to that town, hold a meeting, and ask questions. One member can lead the meeting if the commission says it's okay. But if they need to punish the company, most members must agree in an official meeting.
