§ 1706 Water Use Change Rights

• •If you have the right to use water, you can change where you take it from, where you use it, or what you use it for.
• •You can only make these changes if it doesn’t hurt anyone else’s water rights.
• •You can also extend the pipes or ditches to carry water farther than where you first used it.

A farmer has been using water from a river to grow crops on one field. Now, they want to use the same water for a new field farther away.

The farmer can do this if it doesn’t stop their neighbor from getting enough water for their own crops. They can even build a longer pipe to carry the water to the new field.
