§ 1207 Hearing Notice Requirements

This law says that before a hearing about a stream or river, people must be told about it in two ways: by putting an ad in the newspaper for four weeks and by sending letters to people who own land near the stream or use its water.

Key Takeaways

  • •The notice about the hearing must be in the newspaper for four weeks in a row.
  • •Letters must be sent to people who own land near the stream or use its water at least 60 days before the hearing.
  • •This makes sure everyone who might be affected knows about the hearing and can go if they want.

Example

Imagine a river runs through your town, and the government wants to change how water from that river is used.

The government must put an ad in the local newspaper for a month and also send letters to people who live near the river or use its water, telling them about the meeting where they can share their thoughts.
