§ 6016 Franchise Forfeiture Lawsuits

Key Takeaways

  • •If a company doesn't follow the rules of their special permission (franchise) to do business, they can lose that permission.
  • •The Attorney General can take away this permission if a county, city, or even a regular person complains.
  • •The Attorney General can decide on their own to take action if they see a problem.

Example

A bus company has a special deal to run buses in a city but keeps breaking the rules, like not fixing broken buses or skipping stops.

If people in the city complain to the Attorney General, they can take the bus company to court and take away their special deal to run buses.
