§ 6004 Franchise Application Public Notice

Key Takeaways

  • •If you want to start a special business (like a utility or transit service) in a city or county, you have to ask for permission first.
  • •The city or county leaders can decide to tell everyone about your request by putting an ad in the local newspaper.
  • •The ad will say what kind of business you want to start and that the leaders are thinking about saying yes.

Example

You want to start a new bus service in your town.

You have to fill out an application and give it to the town leaders. They might then put an ad in the town newspaper saying, 'Someone wants to start a bus service here, and we’re thinking about letting them.'
