§ 60006 Authority Dissolution And Succession

Key Takeaways

  • •After July 1, 1997, the old group (authority) is gone.
  • •A new group (district) takes over everything the old group had.
  • •The new group gets all the old group's stuff, contracts, debts, and money from grants.

Example

Imagine a school club (the authority) that runs the cafeteria. The club is ending, and the school (the district) will now run the cafeteria instead.

The school takes over the club’s food, contracts with suppliers, any money the club owed, and any money the club had saved up. Nothing extra needs to be done—it just happens.
