§ 50088 Board Action Requirements

• •The board must make decisions using motions, resolutions, or ordinances.
• •New rules (ordinances) can't be passed on the same day they're introduced or within three days.
• •Rules can only be passed during regular or rescheduled regular meetings.
• •A rule, resolution, or motion only passes if most of the board members vote 'yes'.

A school board wants to make a new rule about school uniforms.

They can't vote on the new rule the same day they talk about it. They have to wait at least three days and vote during a normal meeting. Most of the board members must agree for the rule to pass.
