§ 30901 District Election Notice Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The law says that before an election happens, the people in charge must tell everyone about it by putting an announcement in a local newspaper.
  • •They don’t have to tell people about the election in any other way, like sending letters or putting up signs.
  • •The election should be run the same way as other elections in that area, unless the rules for this election say something different.

Example

Imagine your town is having a special vote to decide if a new park should be built.

The town leaders must put an ad in the local newspaper to tell everyone about the vote. They don’t have to do anything else to let people know. The vote will follow the usual rules for elections in your town unless the leaders made special rules for this vote.
