§ 100401 Vta Election Notice Requirements

This law tells the VTA how to announce a district election by publishing a notice in a local newspaper, and says the election will be run like other district elections unless the ordinance says otherwise.

Key Takeaways

  • •Only one newspaper notice is required, and it must be published within the VTA boundaries.
  • •No additional election notices are needed beyond that newspaper notice.
  • •The election follows the same procedures as other district elections unless the ordinance specifies otherwise.

Example

The VTA wants to hold a special election to decide on a new bus route.

The VTA must put an announcement in a newspaper that prints inside the VTA area, and that's the only notice needed. The election will follow the same rules as other VTA elections unless the specific election order says something different.
