§ 29705 Special District Bond Challenges

Key Takeaways

  • •If people don't like how a special service district was made or don't agree with the bonds (money) the voters said yes to, they have to say something about it soon.
  • •They only have three months after the voters say yes to start a fight about it in court.
  • •After three months, they can't complain anymore.

Example

A small town votes to create a new special district to fix all the potholes on their roads. They also agree to borrow money (bonds) to pay for it.

If someone in the town thinks this is a bad idea, they have to go to court and say why within three months of the vote. If they wait longer than that, the court won't listen to their complaint.
