§ 25804 Transit Facility Leasing Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •A district can rent out its transit facilities (like bus stations or train tracks) to others.
  • •The renter can be a city, a public agency, or even a private company or person.
  • •The district can set the rules for the rental, as long as it's good for the public.
  • •The renter can also sublease (rent out to someone else) if the district allows it.

Example

A city has a bus station that it doesn't use much. A private bus company wants to use it to start new routes.

The city can rent the bus station to the company. The city can decide the rules, like how much rent to charge and how long the company can use it. If the company wants to let another smaller bus service use part of the station, the city can say yes or no.
