§ 102289 Transit Facility Leasing Authority

• •The district can lease or contract for any or part of its transit facilities.
• •It can allow the main renter to sublease the space.
• •The district decides the terms, and "operator" includes any public agency or any person.

A city transit district rents a bus garage to a private bus company, and that company then subleases part of the garage to a smaller shuttle service.

The district can make the lease and also allow the bus company to sublease, as long as the district sets the terms that protect the public’s interest.
