§ 103283 Transit Facility Leasing Authority

• •The district can lease or contract for any part of its transit facilities.
• •It can let the main renter sublease part of the space to another party.
• •The district decides the terms and must think the arrangement helps the public.
• •An “operator” can be any public agency or any person.

The district rents a bus garage to a private bus company, and that company then rents a small portion of the garage to a local shuttle service.

Because the law says the district can lease its facilities and allow subleases, the district can make the first lease and the bus company can make the second lease, as long as the district approves the terms.
