§ 17363 District Land Annexation Request

Key Takeaways

  • •A group in charge of a small area (like a school or water district) can ask to join a bigger area nearby.
  • •They have to write down exactly which land they want to join and the rules for joining.
  • •The bigger area can say yes or no to their request.

Example

A small town's water district wants to join a bigger city's water system to get better service.

The small town's leaders write a request saying, 'We want to join your water system, and here’s the land we’re talking about.' The big city then decides if they agree.
