§ 16195 Civil Service Examination Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •Tests for jobs must be fair and only check if you can do the job well.
  • •If you're applying for a labor job, who applied first might get picked first.
  • •No questions about your politics or religion are allowed in job tests.
  • •The board in charge makes sure all tests follow these rules.

Example

Applying for a job as a mechanic for the city.

The test should only ask about fixing cars, not about your political views or religion. If you and your friend apply, whoever applied first might get the job if you're both equally qualified.
