§ 13652 Special District Annexation Process

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about adding new land to a special district to help with public services like water or electricity.
  • •The people in charge must decide if adding the land will help with these services.
  • •They have to describe the land, say why they want to add it, and set rules for how it will be added.
  • •They must also plan a meeting to talk about it and let people know when and where the meeting will be.

Example

A small town needs more water for its growing population. There is land nearby with a lake that could help provide more water.

The town leaders can use this law to add the land with the lake to their town's special district. They would describe the land, explain how the lake will help with the water supply, set rules for using the lake, and hold a meeting to discuss it with the townspeople.
